Pressure induced by roll-down foam-earplugs on earcanal

چکیده
Physical discomfort of earplug is a common complaint, so much it jeopardizes the health and safety workers, resulting in frequent noncompliance to proper wearing earplugs. A pressing need thus arises understand underlying mechanics for interaction earplugs with earcanal walls. An idealized cylindrical geometry first treated computational analytical modeling predict pressure induced by roll-down PVC foam In order representative values distribution, we estimated hyperelastic properties foam-based characterized their behavior using stent testing machine (J-CrimpTM machine) that mimics radial compression inside earcanals. Similarly, skin based on simplified model consisting single layer. As crosscheck those found calibrated models, validated them literature against set three experiments: (i) expansion holder, (ii) quasi-static uniaxial (iii) transverse compression. We finally used compute magnitude distribution an axisymmetric representation as well 3D realistic reconstructed from MRI images human subject.

A computed tomography phantom study of foam earplugs
Ingestion of a foreign body is common among children. However, ingestion of foam earplugs (FEPs) has not been reported previously. A 7-month-old female infant presented with small bowel obstruction, which was finally proved to be a case of FEP ingestion.Computed tomography (CT) phantom study was performed to examine the imaging features of FEPs. We studied the following dry and fully wet FEPs, ...
متن کاملThe effect of an insertion lubricant on the noise attenuation of foam earplugs
Real-world levels of attenuation from hearing protection devices are usually much lower than the rated values obtained under near-ideal circumstances. The shortfall is even more extreme for earplugs than it is for earmuffs, primarily because of the complicated process of fitting the plugs within the ear canal. This study examines the use of a commercially-available lubricant for hearing aids to...
متن کاملThe active earcanal.
In the past, the human earcanal has primarily been thought of as a passive conduit for sound. Several studies, reported here, explored evidence of how active the earcanal is. The "active earcanal" is conceptualized and aspects of it are viewed through three timeframes: jaw-induced canal change in seconds/minutes, cerumen production in weeks/months, and aging in years. The influence of each of t...

presented is a method of two-dimensional analysis of the active earth pressure due to simultaneous effect of both soil weight and surcharge of strip foundation. the study’s aim is to provide a rigorous solution to the problem in the framework of upper-bound theorem of limit analysis method in order to produce some design charts for calculating the lateral active earth pressure of backfill when ...
